Show - FOUNTAIN GREEN. The following letter was lost in the office and is found again. It contains interesting news to all of our people, and "Subscriber" is reques ted to write again: Fountain Green, February 25. There was a grand concert held in our meeting meet-ing house last evening, given for the benefit of our SoDday school. It consisted con-sisted of songs, by the tabernacle choir, Sunday school choir, Sunday school children, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Sorensen, and others. Also an operetta "Cinderella," "Cinder-ella," music by the brass band, etc. It was an excellent concert.well arranged, well rendered, and well patronized. The receipts were 50. and accordingly our Sunday school is well provided with "dncals" at present. The health of the people here is at present good, with the exception of a few cases of colds and coughs. As a general gen-eral thing onr town and its inhabitants are prosperous. Y e have had six marriages this last six months, and several more preparing to join hands and hearts. We have had i small stir on politics, made by our republican here. Ihey have just organized and are now in full running order, that is they have members mem-bers enough (and a few over) so they c in have a full set of officers. There are also quite a number of democrats here, but they have not yet organizd, I suppose we will have to get some of tne big democratic "gunB" from some otlnr part of the country, to como here and organize the democrats, or it appeals that it may not be done. How is tha', democrats? Otherwise the republicans will hold the fort in this burg. Some of the republicans claim that nearly all great men were republicans, including George Washington, Joseph Smith, John Adams, Alexander Hamilton, and if my memory serves me right they go as far back as to include the old apostle St. Paul. If we could hear the democrats demo-crats perhaps they have al60 gome great and good men on their list of heroes. More anon. Subscriber. |
