" Taint no use talkin', Cyrus, thet boy of ourn certainly do love th' country. lie writ me er letter yesterday an sez he was overjoyed cause ther going ter put him in th right field next summer. 16 YEARS OF SKIN DISEASE For sixteen long years I have been suffering with a bad case of skin disease. While a child there broke out a red sore on the legs just In back of my knees. It waxed from bad to worse, and at last I saw I had a bad skin disease. I tried many widely-knowdoctors in different cities but to nc satisfactory result The plague bothered me more in warm weather than in winter and being on my leg joints it made It impossible for me to walk, and I was forced to stay indoors in the warmest weather. My hopes of recovery were by this time spent Sleepless nighty and restless days made life an unbearable burden. At last I was advised to try the Cuticura remedies Cuticura Soap, Ointment and Pills and I did not need more than a trial to convince me that I was on the road of success this time. I bought two sets of the Cuticura Remedies and after these were gone I was a different man entirely.. I am now the happiest man that there is at least one true care for skin diseases. Leonard A. Hawtof, 11 Nostrand Ave., Brooklyn, N. Y July 30 and Aug. 8, 09. ONE REASON FOR STATUES Not Altogether Devoid of Common Sense Was Answer Given to , Inquisitive Child. Vera Cruz. The most serious uprising with which the Mexican government has had to deal in a long time has occurred In the state of Yucatan, and titoops are being rushed to the disturbed area. In the meantime reports indicate that there has been much bloodshed and that the Insurgents are prepared for battle with the government forces. The independent newspaper, El Dictamen, publishes dispatches from Merida, the capital of Yucatan, to the effect that forty persons were killed by the Maya Indians on Saturday. Further dispatches received here say that 5,000 tof these insurgents sacked miles the town of Vallodolid, ninety-fivto the southeast of Morida, killing all the principal government employees, the chief of police and Pothers. They seized rifles and pistols and instituted a reign of terror. Many of the inhabitants ot Vallodolid are fleeing to Merida. The gunboat Moreltos has already left this port with 600 soldiers aboard, while the Yucatan gunboat Zaragoza is lying in the harbor ready to take 1,000 additional troops, whto are expected from the interior. Railroad and telegraph communication between Merida and the scene of the trouble is cut off. Twenty miles of the Yucatan railitoad have been destroyed by the Indians, while It is reported many telegraph operators have been killed or made prisoners. A judge of the criminal court is among the dead. The rebels are strongly entrenched in anticipation tof the advance of federal troops. Maximilian Ramfcrez Bonilla, the former rebel leader, and Colonel Victor Montenegro are said to be at the head of the uprising. e RATE INCREASES WITHDRAWN.
