Show COUNTY AGENTS COLUMN f 11 1 S 1935 corn hog program under the 1934 corn ling hog contract a hog bog or corn tanner farmer could sign the contract it if it was shown he had grown grown hogs during 1932 and 1933 or had planted an all average of 0 10 acres of 0 corn for or the same two years the 1935 corn hog hoe contract still uses the base period of 0 1932 and 1933 for or both corn and hog production however the county allotment committee Is not to recommend tor for acceptance by the secretary ot of agriculture ri a contract executed by a person who is not a dona bona fide firm farm operator or a contract which will not tend to effectuate the purposes of the agricultural adjustment act it the applicant for or a 1936 1935 corn hog hoe contract did not in 1931 1934 plant to corn at least 25 per cent of the corn base of 0 the farm arm unit operated by him in 1931 1934 1 or it he did not in 1934 either own when far furrowed rowed a number ot of litters equal at least to 25 per cent of his 1932 and 1933 litters or produce for market at least 25 per cent ot of his hog base it will be presumed that such an applicant la Is not a dona bona fide tann farm operator unless evidence la Is presented to the county allott ment committee establishing that such a failure to plant corn or produce hogs was not because the applicant had retired or was retiring from the production of 0 corn and hogs A 1935 corn hog bog contractor should be sure that lie he is a bona fide farmer according to the ruling given some farmers should consider carefully whether or not tile the money received under the agricultural adjustment act is more important than to produce more corn for feed purposes 1935 wheat compliance to be carefully checked by william peterson director utah extension service the time lime has come tor for carefully checking compliance on wheat acreage under the crop reduction con program most ot of th e co counties 6 already measured a large proportion of 0 the acreage planted parties with chain and transit will wil be sent into the different counties to check the measurements by the committee the arrangements for 1936 1935 are somewhat different from 1934 the county committees will be essentially responsible for or acreage compliance under the contract in 1934 the drought rather upset the entire procedure because a large proportion of the acreage tailed failed and where the crop wholly or partly tailed failed careful checking tor for compliance was abandoned bando ned in 1936 1935 the weather has been favorable vo rable practically all acres planted are growing and compliance measurements sure ments will be made carefully and rigidly under the contract every man should be able to indicate his planted and also his contracted acreage that jr Is left out of production this year in accordance with the contract questions come coma to the office every day asking what disposition might be made in the planting of the contracted acreage the rules and regulations are not than they were last year 1 1 the contracted acreage may be left in fallow and kept free from weeds it must no not be planted to wheat or corn arid and must not produce any crop which Is sold tor for cash tho the contracted acreage may be planted to oats barley arid and peas etc por viding these crops are cut tor for hay the contracted acreage must not produce any grain crop which Is allowed to come to maturity so it if it Is planted to garin the crop must be cut tor for hay the acreage may be planted to alfalfa it planted with a nurse crop the nurse crop must not be allowed to come to maturity mut must be cut for hay the acreage may bo be planted to grass and used fol for hay or pasture any portion ol of pe he contracted may be planted to trees to produce woodlot or timber needed on the farm it a tamer farmer finds he has over planted he should immediately eliminate thel the excess acreage either by cutting it for feed or plowing it 11 under and when the inspector comes to life his farm arm ho he should be able to designate the wheat land planted under tho the contract and also lie ho should be definitely able to designate the area set aside as aa the contracted acreage under the contract much time and trouble will be saved it these regular regulations are lived up to rigidly |
