Show NATIONAL REEMPLOY MENT OFFICE FOR COUNTY A millard county office ot of the national Re employment service was established by thomas R caddis associate director of the national He Re employment service last friday october the local office will wili be located at fillmore the local Re employment committee consists of weldo george gene gardner ward moody marion henry dieber J mitchell Mf jr daniel stevens ralph wood the office manager will be appointed at a latter date it was explained by mr air faddis tile the associate director that all employees on oil public works projects whether highway municipal county school districts or state must be obtained through the offices in the various counties and only men who are residents of a given county may be used on projects within that county provided qualified workers are obtainable where qualified workers are not obtainable they will be exchanged between counties through the state directors office mr air faddis said the national Re employment service Is very closely coordinated with the N 11 A lie further stated and no employer can obtain an exemption irom from the presidents reemploy merit ment agreement based upon lack of qualified workers without a letter from his office to the employer in question stating that qualified workers are unobtainable this move on the part of 0 the N it A Is to prevent misrepresentation being made by employers who wish to extend the hours ol of labor in their industry public works projects mr faddis said cannot be depended upon to solve the whole problem of 0 reemploy ment of the unemployed due to the tact fact that in a great great many stances instances they cannot be started until next yer and because ot of the fact act that they represent only a small portion of the building program of normal years it Is therefore necessary that business absorb the greater number of the states unemployed through reducing the hours of labor and live strictly within the code of the industry in question it was also emphasized that in ill cases where funds are allocated by the public works administration to the various federal bureaus to states and counties and to school districts and private interests all the labor must be recruited from state re employment offices the excel tion made is where contractors may to deal directly with union labor and in such cases skilled laher labor may be obtained through the unions as in the past contrary to present relief relict procedure the money expended through public works will give full time jobs there Is to be no rotation of labor |
