Show LetterFrom a SoldierBoy The News is in receipt of the following letter from Gordon W. Murdock, private first class, with the 11th United States Cavalry at Seeley, California (near Calexico and the Mexican border): "Dear Mr. Williams: "This letter is one to tell you of the advancement of two Milford Mil-ford lads: Clifton James and myself. my-self. I thought it might prove interesting in-teresting to you and the community. commun-ity. "At the finish of recruit drill, which lasted six weeks, they chose three of the best all-around recruits. re-cruits. I was first, James second, and a Montana recruit was third. We had all had CMTC previously. Since that time I have been appointed ap-pointed troop clerk with a private first class fith class specialist with a corporal's rating to come very shortly. Or, as the army says, 'I am sweating out a corpor-alcy.' corpor-alcy.' "James has been appointed to regimental supply office as assistant assist-ant to the R. S. Sergeant. He also got a first with a 5th class specialist spe-cialist rating. "I hope that you and Mrs. Williams Wil-liams are enjoying good health. "Very truly yours, "P. F. C. Gordon W. Murdock" |
