Show OHIO COMPANY WILL SHOOT FIRST WELL I There is a possibility that Utah will have its fir-Fit gusher within a few days. Arrangements now are being completed com-pleted by the crew of the Ohio Oil company at Caineville to "shoot' the well that has been drilled there to a depth of about 2400 feet. . The decision to employ explosives In breaking through the caprock which the drill entered a few days ago and which it has nearly penetrat ed is due to the fact that the evidences eviden-ces of extreme pressure are so pronounced pro-nounced that those connected with the company fear that if the drill is employed In completing the hole through the caprock and into the sand the flow of oil or gas. or whatever what-ever is causing the pressure, will be so great that it might wedge the tools andi destroy the well. Drilling was resumed at the Caineville Cain-eville well about two weeks ago af-, af-, ter a long suspension caused by en-j en-j countering an immense flow of wat-' wat-' er, which was with great difficulty cased off. The drilling wa- resumed at about 2200 feet and a few days ago the drill struck the caprntk. The practically official admission has been made that the condition encountered in this well could not hp more promiVng for a big production of oil and because of this fact greater great-er precautious than are usually us-ually taken are being employed to prevent a disaster to the hole. In addition to the supply of explosives ex-plosives sent to- Caineville, these have been received from the company's com-pany's storehouse in Wyoming all applianri necessary to place the well under control If a gusher is brought in. At the Circle Cliffs well on the Ohio company the fishing job is still under way at 1700 feet, while at the Huntington well the same kind of work is in progress, at 2238 feet. That production confidently is expected ex-pected should t lir. tools be recovered and the hole drilled a few feet further fur-ther is indicated by the fad that a battery of half a dozen tanks has been erected in close proximity to the well. The report some time ago that tanks were being installed at the well was denied, hut photographs taken ta-ken a few days ago -prove the report to have been correct. It is generally believed that the officials of-ficials of the company are confident of getting a supply of oil at least sufficient suf-ficient for fuel purposes during the drilling of other wells planned for the Huntington field. A number of Milford poople are interested in leases in and around Caineville. |
