Show PLAYGROUND RECITAL A recital for the benefit of the kiddies playground was given at the high school Friday evening, by Mrs. Julia A. Smithson, assisted by the Pollyanna swarm of Beehive girls, the kindergarten class and Mrs. B. White and Mrs. T. B. Russell. An excellent program was given as follows: Chorus1 Pollyanna swarm. Original Poems Julia A. Smith-son. Smith-son. Violin Solo Miss Macel Rogers. Chorus Kindergarten Class. Vocal Duet Mrs. White and Mrs. Russell. Piano Duet Misses Ruth Elmer aud Alice Frizzell. The playground committee were unusually fortunate in having Mr. G. W. Lee, lightning calculator and mathematician, as an added attraction attrac-tion to ar. interesting entertainment. Mr. Lee is a mining man, as well as a mathematician, and was in Mil-, ford on min.ng business, but gener ously offered his rervices for the benefit of the playground. Mr. Lee g:ive an excellent chalk-talk, chalk-talk, explaining methods for rapid figuring, and also gave several examples exam-ples of his remarkable ability with figures, by telling off-hand1 the ages number of brothers and sisters etc. of members of the audience. Following the program a jitney dance was given in the gymnasium, and refreshments were sold by the Beehive girls. . : |
