Mrs. Ferguson was leading the way and stepped on in the darkness into the old shait, which they had forgotten. She fell a distance of 45 feet, bumping down over sharp rocks and gravel, to the bottom of the shaft. Mrs. Ferguson, who is several yeaivi past 60, feels that she has reason to consider herself fortunate, for no bones were broken, although her whole body was badly bruised and scratched and she received several deep gashes in her head,. A rope was lowered and she was able to assist the Trenholms in pulling pul-ling her c ut. |
