Show WAR VETERAN TOJPEAK HERE STEWART I. LONG, VETERAN OF TWO WARS TO LECTURE ON "REACHING THE GOAL" A man who has had experiences but declines to talk about them is Stewart Ira Long, lecturer, who will be one of the numbers on lecture course this season. X STEWART I. LONG Stewart Long has served in the Spanish American War as an enlisted man, in the World War as a chap- lain, in steel mills as everything from a flunkie to an executive, in the ministry min-istry as pastor of three prominent churches in Indiana. Although he declines to mention his experiences in either of these capacities his broadened point of view and practical philosophy bespeak a wealth of general gen-eral information. On his appearance in this city, Mr. Long will deliver his lecture "Reaching "Reach-ing The Goal." The lecture is purely inspirational, meant as an encouragement encourage-ment for strugglers, a lesson in never giving up. Mr. Long has traveled the Chautauqua Chau-tauqua and lyceum circuits for several sev-eral yeara with "Reaching the Goal" and similar lectures. He has been one of the most popular lecturers in the field. His lectures, though inspirational in-spirational are practical. Without reciting facts and figures, they are full of useful information. Both the lecture and the lecturer have been highly commended by the press. "Reaching the Goal" has been described as "rich in illustration," illustra-tion," "full of humor," "dramatic". Long has been called "a finished orator," ora-tor," a "masterly lecturer" a "rapid-fire "rapid-fire speaker." To the few unthinking people who claim the spoken word has lost its power, Stewart Long is a living refutation. refu-tation. Hearing his lecture is believing be-lieving once again in this most ancient an-cient medium of public expression. Long is one of the younger generation genera-tion of lecturers who is introducing new and modern methods into his address. He draws generously upon anecdote and illustration believing in the superiority of its appeal as compared com-pared with the old time statistics and involved arguments. |
