Show NATIONAL APPLE WEEK lf'27 "National Apple Week'' will be celebrated this year beginning Monday, Oct. 31st, and extending thrwutrh to Saturday, November 5th, inclusive. The 1927 apple slogan is "Nibble a Napple." In sympathy with this campaign, during "National Apple Week," the Union Pacific System lines will feature fea-ture apple dishes in all dining cars and cafes and similar action will be taken by restaurants and hotels thru-i thru-i out the country. Apples will also be featured by clubs, stores and others concerned in marketing and distribution. distribu-tion. You will no doubt be interested in noting the following facts concerning concern-ing apple production in the states of Utah and Idaho: For the ten year period ending December 1926, the average annual production of apples in Utah was 967,000 bushels, resulting in an estimated esti-mated average annual return to the growers of about $624,000.00 This proves the attractiveness of the apple industry to the state of Utah. Utah apples reach markets in not less than twelve states. Idaho is the only western apple producing state that which show an increase in production of apples this year over last year, and it is expected that shipments from Idaho will amount to more than 6500 cars or a production of 4,206,000 bushels this season. Idaho apples are generally distributed distri-buted to not less than 22 states which shows the importance of the apple distributor to the state of Idaho, particularly this year when financial returns to growers will be exceptionally exception-ally high, due to a variable shortage of production in other apple producing produc-ing localities. For a number of years in the past the Unien Pacific System has issued a booklet entitled "100 Recipes for Apple Dishes," of which over 1,000,-000 1,000,-000 copies have been distributed.
