Show ROCKETS FROM BLACK ROCK Special to the News. Miss Barnes has full charge of the district school at Black Rock, and has an average attendance of scholars. schol-ars. General foreman L. Schneider, for Ryeberg Brothers reports that he has done the following work between Black Rock and Pumice, 1,800 feet dyke one mile west of Pumice, 1,200 feet dyke one half mile west of Pumice. In addition to this work there has been a total of 2,100 feet of dyke and channel work. Mr. Schneider epects to be moved from his present location shortly. The general repairs to the district school house are about complete with exception of painting and the raising of the new flag pole. A. G. James made a business trip to Salt Lake City and Springville the past week. Car lead ore was shipped from Read, Utah, last Wednesday consigned con-signed to the American Smelting and Refining company of Murray, Utah. This shipment was made by ed Erickson from the East Antelope mines. Mr. Erickson states that future fu-ture ore shipments will be handled through Black Rock station. While on a wild horse chase last Sunday evening, in an attempt to capture a colt, Mr. Lewis Schneider accompanied by his wife and a friend riding in a (bucking Ford) making 'steen miles per, over the rolled sage brush roads, hit a water hole, Mrs. Schneider took the air, fortunately for-tunately she hit on all sixes, both hands, both feet, her nose and that makes six. Well, anyhow, it is said that when Mrs. Schneider first saw daylight after the parachute jumj, she stood on her feet and said "Did the car turn over?" The ladies of Black Rock are out ollecting a fund to purchase a rapid fire gun. They claim "that every time they get a wash out omthe line, some darn sheep herder shows up with a million head of sheep. Then the ladies bunch and sing that ballad, bal-lad, "Now look at my Sheets since ithe Fleecy Sheep Passed Our Way." |
