Show FORMER MILFORD BOY IS HIGH-CLASS ATHLETE Albert Bowen, is a brother of Leonard Leo-nard Bowen of this city, and formerly former-ly resided in Milford. The Santa Monica Mon-ica Output has the following to say of him, "Final efforts to send Albert Bowen, Bow-en, Samohi high jumper, to Chicago for the National Interscholastic track 'meet in June are being made this week by circulating petitions among the students of Santa Monica high school. ; "Bowen stepped into the limelight , as one of the leading athletes this 'year when he defeated the best high Jumpers in the state and copped the California title, and his feat of tying !for second place in competition with the best college jumpers in California jwon him recognition throughout the west. "A six-foot wall seems to offer him i no move competition than a doorstep j does most people, and he has soareu j over that mark several times in the I last few months. Bowen just misseu being selected to compete in the Oyl-, Oyl-, mpic games last year ,but he has strong hopes of making the grade for 1928 Oylmpiad. Bowen is the president of the Associated Student Body at Samohi." |
