Show PEOPLE OF UTAH MUST FEEL THEIR OBLIGATION TO COMBAT COM-BAT TUBERCULOSIS "If 200 people were to be killed on a certain day each year and the cause were largely within the power of the citizenry of the state to remove, then the people of Utah would sense their duty and rise in protest to stop the slaughter. Each year there are 200 men, women or children who die as a result of the insiduous foe, tuberculosis, tuber-culosis, in Utah. As citizens interested interest-ed in public welfare we must feci the obligation which exists to combat this invisible enemy of man's health and happiness.'' This .is the statement of James H. Wallis, executive secretary of the Utah Public Health association at the State Capitol Building recently. In further conversation Mr. Wallis said that the work of the Association was confined to preventive measures and educational propaganda for the reason that, with a given amount of money to use in the work, many more lives were prolonged and the useful-' ness nf a greater number of people was preserved a a result of this procedure. pro-cedure. One of the activities of the Association Asso-ciation has been the traveling health cliniei in cooperation with the U. S. Public Health Service and the State Board of Health which Is conducting complete tuberculosis and child hygiene hy-giene survey of Utah. The clinic has covered practically all of the state with a paid personnel of four surgeons, sur-geons, three nurses and an educational education-al director.
