Show Lincoln's Answer to Sprague. When the telegram from Cumberland Cumber-land Gap Informed Mr. Lincoln Unit "firing was heard In the direction of Knoxvllle," he remarked that he was glad of it. Governor Sprague had the perils of Burnside's position uppermost in his mind, aDd hearing the President's remark, re-mark, asked Mr. Lincoln why he was "glad of It." "Why, you see, governor," responded the President, "It reminds me of Mistress Mis-tress Sallle Ward, n neighbor of mine, who had a very large family.
