Show FAREWELL SOCIAL A farewell social was given at the L. D. S. church Monday evening in honor of Bishop Robert Matheson, who is leaving soon to reside at Par-owan. Par-owan. A large crowd gathered to enjoy en-joy the evening and bid Mr. Matheson Mathe-son goodbye. The program of the evening under the direction of Elder James Tanner, opened with a song, "Come Oh Ye Saints." sung by the congregation, followed by a prayer by H. H. Pitch-forth, Pitch-forth, after which were a few remarks re-marks from Mr. Tanner and Bishop Bird why we had assembled, and expressed their regrets that Mr. Matheson was leaving Milford, and wishing him everything good in his new home. Mr. Matheson then spoke a few words, expressing his regrets in leaving leav-ing Milford and of his close connection connec-tion with the church which had been a great pleasure and benefit to him. He then sang an old Scotch Mormon song, asking everybody to join in the chorus. The next entertainment of the evening ev-ening was a Quaker meeting which was carried out in the proper way and aforded much amusement. Piano Solo Miss Ethel Day. Reading Mrs. James Tanner. Violin Solo Miss Rogers. After this games were enjoyed for an hour, while waiting for the tea-cbers tea-cbers and pupils of the high school, who were rehearsing for a plav. to arrive there. The remainder of the program was given as follows: Saxaphone Solo Miss Stoker. . Vocal Solo Juanita Miller. Piano Solo Winnie Fernley. Then came, the musical guessing contest which was very funny and interesting. in-teresting. . Refrsehments with hot cocoa were served. A short speech from C. A. Arring-ton, Arring-ton, presenting Brother Matheson with a book, as a token of remembrance remem-brance from the Church. The evening closed with a song by the congregation. Prayer C. A. Arrington. At the close of the evening everybody every-body shook hands with Mr. Matheson, Mathe-son, bidding him goodbye. a |
