Show FORTUNA MINE IS ABOUT SET FORBUSINESS Although one of Utah's essential gold camps. Fortuna, located about 13 miles notr'.i of Beaver City, has not lecu hour.: from lately, the presence pres-ence in Scl' Lake the past few days of one of Fortuna's oldest operators, opera-tors, Chas. M. Flagenbush, and the fact that work has just been resumed resum-ed at the old Sheep Rock, across the valley to tlhe east, present an accumulation accu-mulation of evidence that Fortuna is on the eve of resumption. Mr. Fagenbush is on his way down to Beaver county, where he is associated asso-ciated with J. M. Murdock in the old Goloconda group at the head of Rocky Ro-cky Hollow. This group produced $60,000 in gold ore at the time Fortuna For-tuna was booming several years ago. There is a tunnel 500 feet which is due in a short distance to tap within about 600 feet on its dip. Xotwitt standing the fact t.hat the ve:n had not been reached when work was suspended, stringers of ore were being encountered, and the ore broke at. $8 to $12 a ton. The U. S. Smelting and Refining Co. took an option on the group; sunk a shaft S5 feet and sent out crosscuts both north and south, on- ening two veins. It was reported by good authority that good values were found in both faces and that the veins pitched toward each other "V" like. Many properties were active at t.he time, and values were widespread. Messrs. Hodges and McGarry's lease was reported to have struck ore that sampled $60 and up to $400 a ton. This caused ednsiderable excitement ' in camp. Fortuna district is made up almost al-most entirely of in'rusives; monz-onite, monz-onite, granites, etc. There is a rather rath-er remarkable system of parallel fissures, fis-sures, apparently a score with a nor:hereasterly strike. Those fissures fissur-es are cut deep and almost at right angles, by Rocky Hollow. This deen gulch gives the miners a splendid opportunity to prospect the surface, at nominal expense. The hills are rolling, presenting topographic features fea-tures that at first glance impress favorably fa-vorably and practical raining men and engineers. To the east are the Marysvale I mountains, with Deer Trail, Bully Boy and other mines, famed for large production. To the west is Mineral or Antelope range, Antelope Star and other gond prospects. Still further wes: are the numerous mines that have given Beaver county fame such as Horn Silver. Majestic Mines Moscow. Milford Copper. Red Warrior. War-rior. Beaver Copper, Independent Miver. tinirna, '.,o::i ueei, ctitiar iui-isman iui-isman and many others. Utah right now needs a gc'-l camp, and if Golilytrlke does not brisk up soon.
