Show SAFETY FIRST MEETING HERE The Salt Lake division afety rally ; w hich was held here last Wednesday, Wednes-day, was one of the most enthusiastic enthusias-tic "safety first" meetings ever held on this division. It was made up of the members of the Division safety committee, the Milford transportation and the Milford shopmen's committees. Mr. w.' H. Smith, division superintendent super-intendent is chairman of the division divis-ion committee and was also (hair-man (hair-man of the consolidate meeting which convened! in the Victory theatre Mr. W. The forenoon meeting was an open op-en meeting and was attended by many of the citizens. The time was taken up by short talks and introductions. intro-ductions. Mr. Smith opened the meet ing by explaining the object of the meeting and told of the good work Mreadty done" and the worknow being be-ing done by the "safety first" movement. move-ment. H. T. Hanks was the first speaker introduced. He suggested that as a safety measure, the old stone warehouse, ware-house, west of the state road be removed, re-moved, so as to give an unobstructed unobstruct-ed view of aonroaehing trains Other sneakers of the morning session were Dr. H. Mr. Stuhh impressed upou the committees present the necessity of vigelauce, if this division is to continue con-tinue at the head of the list until January 1st, at which time a banner j will be awarded to the division which leads the list in safety at that time. A portion of the morning session was given over to showing a reel of safety lessons, which was very in- j structive and appreciated! by those present. The afternoon was given over to the business meeting, consisting of reports on safety measures, which were being made and contemplated by the company; and recommendations recommenda-tions for further improvements. The dance in the evening at the opera house, under the auspices of the committee, was one of the largest larg-est and most enjoyable events of the season, and brought to a close a day which was declared by Superintendent Superintend-ent Smith to be one of exceptional interest and pleasure.
