Show EARLY REVIVAL OF - COLORADO BILL SWING-JCHNSON IN SAME FORM SURE TO BE OFFERED TO CONGRESS Move to T.ick it on Mississippi Flood Control Act Now is Foreshadowed Washington Some sort of bill looking look-ing to the regulation and partial development de-velopment of the Colorado river is almost al-most certain to pass congress next session. What form the final enactment enact-ment will take widl depend on many things; to a large extent it wii5 depend de-pend upon the success of negotiations now in progress among the states uf the Colorado river basin. The simple solution of the Colorado river problem would be.unconditional i ratificaton of the seven-state compact by all of the states of the basin. Failure Fail-ure of Arizona to ratify, except with reservations and withdrawal of Utah from the six-state compact lie at the bottom of most of the past difficulties which beset and brought about the defeat of the Swing-Johnson bill. ' Once the seven states are in accord, ' and their assessment has been ratified I by congress, as was contemplated when the Santa Fe conference was called, most of the difficulties in the I path of Colorado river legislation would be removed, and there would remain re-main then only the one big issue, not necessarily a part of the first enactment enact-ment by congress shall the power be developed by the federal government of other agencies? |
