Black, sub-districe manager man-ager of the United States Veterans' bureau, at Salt Lake City, desires to impress the ex-service men of the lale war with the necessity of filing their claims for disabilities which were received during their service In the U. S. Army and Naval branches Section 3 09 of the War Risk Insurance In-surance act October 6, 1917, provides: pro-vides: "That no compensation shall be payable unless claim therefore be filed, in case of disability:, within five years after discharge or resignation resigna-tion from service, or, in case of death during service, within five years after such death is officially recorded re-corded in the department under which he may be Serving Provided however, that where compensation is payable for death or disability occurring oc-curring after discharge or resignation resigna-tion from the service, claim must be made within five yearse after such death or the beginning of such disability." disa-bility." A great many men were discharged dis-charged shortly after the Armistice in November, 1918 and in these cases the time limit is maturing. These men should communicate with the veteran's bureau at once, to protect pro-tect their rights in later years, if not at present. |
