Mrs. Eva Howd and Mrs. Clara Howd of Beaver came over' to Milford Mil-ford Thursday on business. Mrs. Bess M. Coon is spending the week at Minersville, the guest of her sister Mrs. Gourley. Mrs. Ralph Pitchforth has been quite ill for several days, but is now leeling much improved. Mrs. Palmer entertained at dinner Thursday evening in honor of Mrs. Ward. Covers were laid for nine guests. Mr. Angus Buchanan returned from his Salt Lake trip Thursday evening. May Bowen has returned from a month's visit in Santa Clara. M. McCann and family have recently re-cently moved to Caliente. Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Isaacs and two daughters spent the Fourth in Salt Lake City. Joe Murdock, night car inspector for the Salt Lake Route, spent the Fourth with his family at Greenville. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. McCutchen were in Milford this week. They are now located at one of Pope's camps. Cora and Veta Vest of Lyndyll spent the Fourth with friends in Milford, returning to their home today. There will be Sunday school in the M. E. church on Sunday morning, and preaching at eight o'clock in the evening. Joe Arney, an engineer on the Salt Lake Route, left for Los Angeles Ange-les today for a vacation. Mrs. Arney has been there for a short time. Mrs. Harry Ward, accompanied by her two daughters, left Thursday for California, expecting to remain for a couple of months. Miss Gertrude Holmes, secretary for the Delta Land & Water Company, Com-pany, is in Los Angeles as a witness in the case of Perry vs. the Company, which has been on trial for nearly one month. Jy6-2t The members of the Milford Volunteer Vol-unteer Fire Department and their families will leave Saturday evening for Clear Lake, about forty miles from here, to spend Sunday. They will go by way of Fillmore. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Hickman of Manti are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hickman. Mr. Hickman, Jr., was at one time a prominent business man of this place, being manager of the Milfnrrt T.nmhpr Cn Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Burton and Mr. and Mrs. Lou Burton drove over from Parowan the evening of the Fourth. They took dinner at Hotel Atkin and then drove to Beaver, where they were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. N. P. Ipson. Dr. J. J. White, Reed, Utah; Mrs. S. Wesson, Minersville, and others. It The entire office force of the Delta Land & Water Company took a vacation va-cation on the Fourth and spent the day in Beaver canyon. Supt. A. M. McPherson, and family, Miss Stringer, String-er, Messrs. Perry and Wooley and Clark joined the party. Bob Stoddard Stod-dard also took his parents and a party par-ty of friends up to the source of the water supply. The Rev. S. Allison and family expect ex-pect to leave for Elsinore, Sevier county, on Monday morning. Dr. Lace has requested Mr. Allison to go and assist the Rev. E. E. Mork in some Gospel tent meetings. Mr. Allison Al-lison will be in Elsinore on Sunday, July 15th, and expects the members of the Utah Gospel Mission to conduct con-duct services in the Methodist church in Milford. The members of the Utah Gospel Mission are in Beaver Bea-ver and will reach Milford before that time. The water was shut out of the canals of the Beaver County Irrigation Irriga-tion Company over the Fourth to be sure that no water would be wasted by reason of there being nobody home to take care of it. The water was back in the canals this morning early. While there is not much water in the reservoir owing to the quantity being used in Beaver F.or-toms, F.or-toms, it is hoped by economy and shutting off entirely where possible to conserve enough to take care of the settlers of the project. |
