Show NADA NOTES Mrs. J. E. Rambler was the victim of a well planned surprise shower, on Tuesday last week. About a dozen doz-en ladies gathered in time for lunch all laden with well filled baskets. A delightful luch was served at 1:00 o'clock and the afternoon was spent in conversation and admiring the pretty shower gifts. 1 Last Saturday evening C. V. and H. F. Dinwiddle ww hosts at a most enjoyable dance at the Culmsee hall in honar of the boys home from the front. Charley Dinwiddle, Ollie Norris and Wm. Norris. Two auto loads of young people from Lund, were present. They were chaperoned chaperon-ed by Mrs. Carter. Our "service stars" are coming one by one. The last to arrive Is John Wade, who landed in New York Dec. 20th. From there his company was sent to the Presidio, California, and he received his honorable discharge. We were proud t onote the following, health good, character excellent, and the letters N. A. W. L. John has many (interesting stories to relate, although he did not see actual service, ser-vice, having finished his overseas training only two days before the armistice was signed. The ocean was pretty rough on homeward voyage voy-age and he was in the train wreck in Ohio. The car Mr. Wade was in was thrown off the track, the train separated leaving some of the cars 'in each state, but he escaped withoui a scratch. |
