Show TO ORGANIZE i ABIG CLUB As a result of a letter sent out by. E. B. Jorgensen, secretary of the Mil-! '"ord commercial club, a meeting of ( representatives of th'3 different clubs of Southwestern Utah, will be held ! in Cedar City on July 30, at 1:30 1 p. m. for the purpose of organizing to boost the interests of this section j to advertise its scenic attractions! and make known the agricultural & ' mineral resources of this vast, undeveloped unde-veloped and we might say unexplored unexplor-ed region. Some of the replies received by Mr. Jorgensen are so good we make exerpt from them: Marysvale says: "Your communication of the 10th at hand, regarding the organization of some suitable club or body, which has for its purpose the bettering of our condition, here in the southern part of the State, and wish to assure you that our club and members of the Town board will cooperate with you in any plan that is decided on. The writer made a trip to the sou th, some time ago and has been wondering won-dering ever since why the people have been so negligent in letting the out side world know of their wonderful wonder-ful resources. In this county we have accomplish ed much with our commercial club, and fully realize that is is by con-scerted con-scerted action of a body, rather than by the individual that we have gotten got-ten the results on our roads etc. Regarding a meeting place, will say that it will be hard to choose a place that is convenient for all, and as fjar as we are concerned any town that might be choaon will suit us, as we expect to send one or more representatives. rep-resentatives. Please feel assured that we will give this our hearty support and will respond when notified." ' Cedar City says: "Your letter of the 10th inst. to our secretary has been handed to me for reply. "In as much as you have taken the initiative in the .matter you mention, and perhaps have some plan in mind, we think you had better continue the good work and we will fall in line with anything for the upbuilding upbuild-ing of this end of our state. I should think Cedar City would be a convenient conven-ient place to call such a meeting in as much as it is quite central to the section mentioned. If you choose to meet here, we will be pleased to lend any assistance we can, or if you prefer pre-fer to call a meeting elsewhere, we will send delegates there. As to the time of such a meeting, will say that we will try and make our time conform to yours in the matter." Orderville says: "Must say that we heartily agree with you in your view on the necessity neces-sity of each of us doing our part for the boosting of our Southern Utah. Your plan for an organization, I think is a good one and will receive the attention of our members. We will try to do our best to have a rep-resentativf rep-resentativf from here at the meeting wherever it may be decided to hold It." Delta says: "If you can put your date of meeting meet-ing when it will not conflict with our plans, already made, count on us surely." The sentiment expressed is so enthusiastic en-thusiastic and favorable that, the meeting has been called as ahove noted and It is expected that there will he representatives from quite a number of committees, and that an organization will be made which will at least make Southwestern Utah better acquainted with itself and its neighbors. Invitations to the meeting arc being be-ing mailed today. |
