Show THE KAISER WENT TOO FAR j There are a few people who do not understand j the German attitude that contend that Americans j should stay away from other countries and out of j danger. As far as we are concerned that suits us all f right, for we have no business on the high seas and j rather like the firm ground under foot at any time. j But- when Germany declares that only one vessel from neutral ports, regardless of the character of j cargo she may carry, may sail to and from certain j neutral ports, and that when she does sail she must j not vary from a prescribed narrow course without being blown to smithereens, that's too much to ex- J pect even patient, easy-going Uncle Sam to live up j to. The Kaiser went too far. The high seas do not j belong to Germany. They should be open and free to all neutral nations to travel. Germany definitely t agreed to such a view earlier in the war but now de- clares that she will be absolute boss of the seas and destroy and kill anything and everybody as she likes. We shall see what we shall see. i ., f |
