Show , u TREASON PUNISHABLE BY DEATH The time of neutrality has passed. This country is at war with Germany. Americans are long forebearing. They will and have let insult and insolence pass with a smile of indulgence. They have dreaded and .hoped against war. But the breaking point was reached. ' Now any lowlived, low-lived, disloyal reprobate who hasn't sense enough to keep his mouth shut is apt to get the map of Germany mussed all over his countenance- Any man who, born in this country, coun-try, expecting and having the advantages of its free institutions, in-stitutions, asking and accepting portions of the public lands upon which to make a home, receiving the protection of the officers of the country, will so far forget himself and all that is dear to him as to denounce the United States to which he owes allegiance, should not complain if he thus brings upon himself the penalty provided for treason. There are such men in this country. There are a few of them in Beaver county. They are known and they have by their own contemptible conduct and foolish utterances . placed their liberty in jeopardy. The loyal "Minute Men" of the country who have always been its efficient home' guards, are watching such men and they had better take due warning and realize that this is -no time for idle chatter or careless remark of disloyalty to this country. |
