While the attendance was a little oft', the talks were the most vital importance. Baxter was the first speak er and he gave a very comprehensive report on the result, of a meeting -' which was held in Salt Lake Tuesday between the representatives of Bea- , ver county and the State highway commission. It appears that the state and federal feder-al government are ready to go ahead with the construction of the Beaver-Cove Beaver-Cove Fort road, the Beaver Milford road and the Puffer Lake road and will to go to the expense of making a survey of the Milford-Gnrrison road and will designate it as Federal State aid road, but there will be no amount of money available for actual ac-tual construction on it until 1921. In order to get the assistance from the state and federal government. It will be necessary for Beaver county coun-ty to Issue bonds to the amount of about $100,000. This would provide pro-vide about 80,000 on the Beaver-Milford Beaver-Milford road; 110,000 on the Beaver Cove Fort road and $35,000 on the Puffer Lake road, and have several fhousand to expend on other much needed improvements and maintenance, maintena-nce, like the Newhouse-Frisca, Reed, Beaver to Iron County, Greenville and other roads, but if the bond issue is-sue is not provided, then there would be but about $2,000 to be spent in betterments in the county. Other speakers on the subject were Vrrington, Carlton, Cline and Hunter. Hunt-er. Carlton pointed out the vast increase in-crease in the cost of roads today, as aompared with the cost of -roads in years past. He said that roads which a few years ago were built for $10,000 per mile were now costing cost-ing $35,000 to $40,000 that roads built five or ten years ago, when five tons was considered an extremely , large load, are rapidly going to pieces pie-ces under the ten and 20 ton loads of today. What load the road of the future la tr narrv to nnlv YiTrtliloTyiotli al. The Chairman of the next meeting will be Mclntire and Bird will be the fine collector.
