Show COLLEGE AND ARMY Major Terry, Lieut. Evans and a number of non-commissioned officers offi-cers are in Milford this week looking look-ing for recruits for the army and especially for the Artillery. Major Terry is from the 55th C. A. C and Lieut. Evans the 4th field artillery. They are expecting several cars in from Salt Lake in a few days. The snow Sunday is holding them up, but they will be here some time this week and will canvass all this territory ter-ritory as far south as St. George. Milford and the vicinity hasn't been furnishing very many recruits lately, but with this special effort by the recruiting re-cruiting "service, things should pick up in the next week ro two. Lieut. Evans wishes especially to draw the attention of the public, to the new school systems in the army. ar-my. There has been $2,000,000 appropriated appro-priated for this purpose and the army ar-my schools of today are among the best in the country. The only difference dif-ference is when a young man goes to college he has to pay for his board, clothing and other expenses, while in the army, he gets all this free and also al-so gets paid for his' time. He will have just as much time and lust as good equipment for athletics and amusements in the army as he will at college too. The fact that the F. A. Engineer and Q. M. C. are apen for one year enlistments at present pres-ent makes it nice too, as a young fellow fel-low doesn't necessarily have to tie himself up for three years until he has tried it for one. This one year period will probably close in the near future, so now is the time to take advantage of it. |
