Show LETTER FROM GEO. TRENT MAYORS OFFICE Islen, Nev. -Nov. 27, 192C Friend Karl Yes I was reelected mayor at tht recent election. It was a close sbave however, as the section boss down al Big Springs was out after the office, ;But as there was but one other voter vot-er In the place (my wife) I told her j if she did not vote for me, I would refuse to vote for her as City treasurer. treas-urer. I guess I am some politician. What you tink? The plans are now being drawn for a couple of nice bungalows which are to be built at Islen. li is possible possi-ble that they will be built along the lines known as the Mission style. These bungalows will be used by the additional office force of the railroad company. The recent improvements made at Islen, , in the installing of awye and new spur tracks has increased the work considerably at the Union station. sta-tion. This work was under the supervision su-pervision of General Roadmaster Sands. While it is true, the nearest hotel to Islen at this time is about sixteen miles, located down at a place called call-ed Caliacohute, at the right-of-way of the railroad, takes up all the suace through the canyon, there is no room for private parties to build a hotel, except that they go high and the City dads of Islen hesitate to bond the city for funds to build a tramway line at this time. Then I might mention men-tion too, that the City treasurer has gone to Los Angeles with all the city-funds city-funds and she is liable to .buy a pair of shoes while away, and in that case the city is flat broke. The City dads voted for the installing instal-ling of a high powered gas engine, and new pump at the city water works. This matter was fully ap-proved ap-proved by the mayor. Nature provides us with a moving picture show here the finest in the world and absolutely free to all. Yours truly. GEORGE A. TRENT. Mayor of Islen. |
