Show SPUR WILL ADD 500 TONS . DAILY TO COAL OUTPUT Repairing of a mile of Union Pacific Pa-cific track will add 500 tons to the daily output of Utah coal mines. The track to be repaired is a spur from Coalville to the Summit Fuel company's com-pany's mine, one mile south. The matter is now in the "hands of the state public utilities commission,' with fair prospects that necessary repairs re-pairs to the track in question will be made forthwith. Some days ago T. W. Blake, president' presi-dent' of the Summit Fuel company's 'coal mine, appealed to the public Utilities commission for assistance in "compelling the Union Pacific rail--' - road company either to repair the track or give the fuel company per mission to make such repairs. Mr. Blake says about 900 ties will be required, re-quired, and he said his company is willing to do the work. He avers that letters written the railroad company com-pany have received no replies, and on this account appeal was made to the state commission. The latter, upon receipt of this information, in-formation, telegraphed E. E. Calvin, president of the Union Pacific at Omaha, and yesterday received reply stating no word has been received by him relative to the Summit Fuel company's desire.. Mr. Calvin stated that the question would be taken up immediately and as soon as data pertaining per-taining to amount of repairs required re-quired for the spur track and the cost of these were obtained he would communicate them to the commission. commis-sion. Mr. Blake declares that his company com-pany is operating the mine, but is compelled to haul all of its product over a wagon road to the cars. He adds that at the start the daily. output out-put will be 300 tons, and that this will be increased to 500 per day during dur-ing the winter. Herald-Republican. |
