Show Now on Trial for Grand Larceny The traveling dry goods merchants who visited Milford the last week in October are under arrest on a charge of grand larceny. It will be remembered remem-bered that these gentry came into town with a considerable stock, of ladies' wear, including some very attractive- material and garments. They rented the Pfeil Building and advertised by a half-page display and large dodgers distributed. Their adv. was headed: "Of Interest to Ladies," and so it proved to be. For the ladies of Milford crowded the Pfeil Building and purchased freely of the bargains offered. However, upon telegraphic advice, the "merchants" "mer-chants" were followed to Caliente and placed uncfer arrest upon a charge of grand larceny. It seems that the men are charged with obtaining ob-taining possession of the goods upon the representation that they were opening a store at a certain town. The goods were obtained from San Francisco dealers. Instead of opening open-ing a store the men peddled the goods from town to town and were pocketing the coin. Not having paid for the goods, and apparently having no such intention, they could afford to offer "rare bargains." Sam Cline has been subpoenaed to appear as a witness in the case, which "is to be tried in Los Angeles next week. |
