Show OIK HOLIDAY KDITION We are most too tired and happy tu tell you how proud and thankful we are. Proud of the edition; proud of the town that gave us such wholehearted whole-hearted support; proud of those friends who did so much to make it a success and proud of our employers employ-ers who have worked sixteen hours a day for the last ten days to get the work done and the paper out. We started two weeks ago to canvas can-vas the town for advertising for a twelve page special holiday edition and the first day the response was so liberal that we hud to get off the street because we had more space sold than our limited force could handle and still orders kept coming, com-ing, until the paper has increased to twenty-four pages, and would have been thirty-two. if we could have done the mechanical work. In but two instances were we turn ed down and both times by business firms which are run by out-of-town capital. Other firms are not represented repre-sented among our advertisers from no fault of theirs, but because our solicitor was locked up in the office offi-ce for fear he w otild -bring in copy for more advertisements which the mechanical force could not possibly pos-sibly handle. Our Minersville page became a fail ure because the copy was thrown in the waste basket, as no business firm there thought it worth while to say Merry Christmas to their customers, cus-tomers, though the columns of the paper. However Wil T. Morris of the schools, there, furnished a very good article on their schools, which appears in another column. We wish you all a Merry Christmas. |
