For the university training, it is not reuired that the men be expert in trade, but they must have some experience and , aptitude, and a grammar schood education. The opportunity to volunteer for this service closes June 7. There remains the chance for limited lim-ited service registrants to engage in spruce production for aircraft, but this ended June 6. Fitzgerald, executive officer of the draft, in connection with the announcement of the quotas, quo-tas, made this statement: "Allotments of quotas for the various var-ious local boards in Utah for the two pending calls for the national army men effective in this state have been fixed. Under the first call, which is for 453 men to report at the Unic sity of Utah for eight weeks' mechanical mechan-ical training, the allotment of quotas is tentative and may be changed, if for any reason some local heart's are unable ,td furnish their quota oC these men, who must be grammar school graduates and have had some mechanical training and some mechanical me-chanical aptitude. "An effort will be made to secure the men under this call through the volunteering of class 1 men, or men of deferred classes who may waive their deferred classification in order or-der to take advantage of this training, train-ing, which is an exceptional opportunity oppor-tunity for young men who desire a training that will be of material advantage ad-vantage to them both in their army career and in after life. "The men especially needed are automobile drivers, automobile mechanics, me-chanics, telegraphers, radio operators, electricians, cement workers, and mechanics of all kinds. It is not necessary that one shall have learned his ti'ade in order to be eligible for this till, but all men who have had some mechanior.l experience , and tome mechanical aptitude arc eligible, elig-ible, provided they have a grammar school education.
