Show THE DEATH OF D. JLWEBSTER D. A. Webster, who has been president pres-ident and manager of the Beaver County Publishing company since it' organization, passed away in Pomona, Pomo-na, Cal., last Monday after a brief illness. ill-ness. Mr. Webster came to Milford three years ago, bought land on the project, and also locatedm a homestead, home-stead, where he built a nice home and where he lived until last fall. In January, 1917, he took the management man-agement of the Beaver County News. and in April of the same year he purchased the Beaver Press. Later, when the Beaver County ! Publishing company was organized, he became its president and manager, mana-ger, retaining the active control o" the Mllford paper. In March or this year he entered the Milford post-office post-office as acting postmaster: Mr. Webster's health began to fail' about a month ago, and after a s stay in a hospital in Salt Lake City, it was deemed best to take him to his old home in Santa Paula. Calif., to see if the lower altitude wouh; not be beneficial. Accordingly, ' the 29th of May, in the company of his wife and Mayor W. F. Cottre" who kindly volunteered to accompany accom-pany him, they started, hut his condition con-dition rapidly became worse and he was taken from the train at Pomona, Pomo-na, where he was taken to the home of friends. Here he passed away on June 3. David A. Webster was born . in Osceola. Iowa, June 26, 1S70. He lived for a number of. years 'n Krn-sas, Krn-sas, and in 1S90 went to Santa Paula, Cal. Later he was editor of the Santa Paula Chronicle, and at one time for a few years was one of the editors of the Ventura Fret-Press, Fret-Press, after which he was one of the members of the Southwest Printers-Supply Printers-Supply company in Los Angeles for about three years. He again returned re-turned to Santa Paula as editor or the Chronicle, where he remained until he came to Milford. He has many friends in southern California. D. A. Webster was married to Barbara Bar-bara E. Miller on June 4, 1913, and in passing away he leaves a widow, two grown sons, Lyall and Millard, and a little daughter, Barbara Augusta, Au-gusta, a few months old, all of whom have the sympathy of many friends. Mr. Webster has belonged to the Masonic lodge for many years, and after coming here changed his membership mem-bership from California to the Masonic Ma-sonic lodge of Milford, of which he was treasurer at the time of his death. It was expected that the funeral would be held on Thursday at Santa Paula, where the body was taken from Pomona. |
