Show HUNS PURSUE MIDDLE COURSE Decline to Join Bolsheviki in War Against Western Powers. Berlin. Dr. Walter Simmons, the foreign minister, addressing the reichstag reich-stag foreign affairs committee on Thursday, declared he had been urged to collaborate with the Russian bolsheviki bol-sheviki against the western powers as a means of breaking the bonds imposed im-posed by the treaty of Versailles, but that after mature reflection he had rejected this course. "If we had followed these exhortations," exhorta-tions," said the foreign minister, "Germany "Ger-many would immediately have become a theatre of war. Furthermore, the disastrous consequences which bob shevism might be expected to bring with it would have fallen with double force upon Germany." Dr. Simmons said proposals alsc have been made that Germany co-operate with the western powers againsl Russia, which he considered an equally equal-ly impossible course. "No power at war with soviet Russia Rus-sia " the foreign minister added, "need count on our support." |
