Wrisley, the state supervisor su-pervisor of the educational service announces that local committees of ex-service men throughout The state have awarded scholarships amounting amount-ing to over nine thousand dollars to former service men of Utah. The funds for these scholarships are from money which the National war work council of the Y. M. C. A. had left after Its welfare work was completed. complet-ed. It is returning this money to ex-service men In the form of scholarships. sch-olarships. The studies which these scholarship scholar-ship holders are pursuing range from agricultural, mechanical and commercial com-mercial subjects, to such collegiate courses as medicine and law. For the many men who cannot leave the farms or business to attend some local school, home study courses are arranged. Those who are taking these correspondence courses are very enthusiastic about them. There are still funds available for scholarships for men in Beaver county, coun-ty, Mr. Wrisley says, but unless applications ap-plications are received by October 5. the money will be allotted to counties coun-ties that have more applications than can be cared for with their present quota. The scholarships available are for ex-service men who have not completed their high school studies, but wish further training, especially along vocational lines. Any exser-vice exser-vice men who hold an honorable discharge dis-charge may apply for a scholarship. Those interested should write to Mr. Wrisley in care of the College Y. M. C. A. Logan, Utah. a |
