Show TRAIN SERVICE DEMORALIZED The heavy snows of the first of the week crippled the train and mail service for several days. No. 7, due here on Mon- day evening, came in the next day 14 hours late. No. 1, due Tuesday at S:40 a. m., arrived at 2:20 p. m. No. 20 stayed at Milford for six hours and No. 8 made quite a visit here too. The freight trains made a few miles occasionally. The worst trouble seems to have been at Goss. about 40 miles north of Milford, where the snow drift- ed heavily and when cleared away, refused to "stay put" and soon again covered the tracks in drifts. On Wednesday. Nos. 20. 2 and 8 visited all day in Mil- ford and the streets were alive with storm bound strangers. The trouble on the line near Lyndyll prevented trains leav- ing Salt Lake City until late in the day. It is feared now that with the heaviest snowfall of this winter in the hills and mountains, that washouts will occur when the ruch of water comes after the '! snow begins to melt. |
