Show VOTE FOR THE SCHOOL BONDS i : I , Nearly jtwo years ago we Toted a I bond of $lS0,0Otf to build "school buildings! in this ' county."' In the bond ilj wfis provided that'a building should be built' In Beaver, one' in Greenville one in Adamsville, an addition ad-dition jMihersville and , also an ad-, dition jo bur grade building jn Mil- lord. j The necessity for the "buildings-was "buildings-was plainly shown the people , at fhat time and the condition , , has grown steadily worse since. Beaver Bea-ver is tjeaohing school in little buildings build-ings mpvejd from the Delta project. Greenvjllej with all grades in two .rpoms, ! Adamsville' teaching in tin church,1 no building at all. Miners-ville Miners-ville is crowded and handicapped in alt its school work for lack of a .larger room" for" assembly" of ' stu-l.dents. stu-l.dents. Room is badly needed there for . Domestic Science and Manual 'training, " $ ,, Milfprd positively ..needs' - a ' grade school building at once. All of you know the condition of the building. How the walls settled and cracked. Many parents refused to send their Children to the school on account of' the unsafe condition prevailing, however experts stated that it would not fall, but let this be as it may, there Is a constant dread. iIf the Special Tax is voted, we are to have a fine ten room bnlldino. which will be properly equipped. The High School will be better fitted for its work; the grounds improved thus making it possible to have the educational facilities here that are enjoyed in other parts of the state. 1 -When the bonds were voted, our country was at war. We were not allowed to sell them. When the war closed, they were sold, but during the meantime, prices of building material ma-terial had practically doubled - in price in most lines. Therefore it cfi'n. plainly be seen that the buildings build-ings proposed to be built before the war cannot be erected now without the taxpayers come to the .relief ol the school board, which it Is believed will be heartily given. . " - -Some may think the amount ,0! taxes too much and extending over too long a period of time, without the, assurance that rhe money will be raised to meet all the needs, it would lie, difficult to carry on the pro posed buildings at all. -',. Ir" the full' amount voted should ,no,t, be needed, the levy need not be made the last year o'r 'two ;' but' how essential it is to know-. the people. "tire back of the schools with sufficient suffi-cient funds to 'build properly and not: patch up' old dilapidated buildings build-ings which are condemned for school purposes. ,,,,Our schools are the biggest assets as-sets In our town. They raise the valuation of property and make our city a desirable place In which to live. ' People demand more today than many of us were content to in dure. A city lags behind when it neglects its public buildings, and especially its schools. j It is your duty to vote and not passively say it will be voted with- ' . out ,me. The school board needs your approval In a hearty vote. It gives confidence and support, especially espec-ially at this time, when so much money is needed to meet the demands de-mands In every line, and in getting good teachers for your rhildren. These things cannot be done today without more money as you know from your own experience In home life. 1 Vote the Special Tax June 18th. PARENT TEACHERS' ASSN. i |
