Show SAVING AND . ! THRIFT HABIT To make war-taught thrift and the practice of saving, through lending I t0 tne Government, a permanent and happy habit of the American people the United States Treasury Is to continue con-tinue the sale of War Savings stamps 'and Thrift Stamps. In connection wpth the (sale of stamps, the treasury will conduct an intensive move to promote wise spending, avoidence of waste, intelligent intel-ligent saving and safe investment. To "conduct the sale of stamps and to develop the educational campaign for thrift, the treasury has consti tuted a bavmgs Division of the War Loan Organization, and has placed the local conduct of the campaign in the hands of the Governors of the Federal Reserve banks. These thrift representatives of the treasury treas-ury will conduct their campaigns through the Press, through organizations, organi-zations, schools and' other agencies. In each county and in many communities, com-munities, local representatives will be appointed to promote the sale of stamps and to develop thrift education. edu-cation. Especial attention will be given to the forming" of savings so-cities so-cities in industrial plants and business bus-iness concerns and the schools for children and their parents.- Effort Will ho marlc nlon I n 1 -1 . "w lu niLeiesi uuurcn- es, Sunday Schools, Lodges and oth-j er groups of people in saving thro thrift and war savings stamps and inducing their friends and associates to join the thrift movement. The Savings -division will cooperate cooper-ate with all other Government agencies agen-cies interested in promoting avoidence avoid-ence of waste and in helping t- .j individual to, get ahead. The public this year will be urged to buy stamps not only because of patriotic interest in supporting the Government in its Post-Armistice and Peace program but also frou motives of self interest. War Saving Stamps and thrift Stamps offer a convenient means of providing for the rainy day, making ready for a sunny opportunity or accumulating ac-cumulating sums to effect some well considered future purchase. The Saving division considers that wise spending is the basis of intelligent intel-ligent saving, and fiat intelligent saving is merely postponed enjoyment enjoy-ment that is, accumulating trifling sums for later important and well thought out purchases. Some will . save to provide for old age or unexpected unex-pected emergencies. Others will want to havea 'turn around, fund which enables them to meet comfor-j comfor-j tably readjustments in business pr ; employment. Still others will save jfor such purposes as a future vacation, vaca-tion, education for themselves or L'their children, to buy an automobile ! or what not. The campaign of thrift education it is hoped, will encourage people to i think before they spend and to get full value in goods, comfort service ' recreation, and advancement for every ev-ery dollar they earn. Thrift stamps and War Saving Stamps are very effective devices in counteracting thoughtless expendic ture. Thrift is Power-Save and Succeed Suc-ceed ! |
