Show CITY COUNCIL The City council met in regular session at Jorgensen & Co's office Thursday night. Mayor Cottrell presiding. pre-siding. Present: Beard, Woodbury, Bird, Health Officer Harry Ward and Marshal Mar-shal Baxter. The health officer .reported that the flu was almost a thing of the past as there was only one new case and only two quarantine cards up. He also reported one case of the measles. The question of streets and side- I walks was discussed and an order was made to have a road drag made ; and tried out for a few days with j the hope that it would cause thej mud to dry up quicker and have the! road surface in a little better shape when it did become dry. The question of peddlers.' license nces caused considerable discussion The drift of the matter being simply sim-ply this. Why should merchants" be compelled to pay licenses and peddlers ped-dlers not pay? Merchants pay rent, taxes, insurance, give employment to many people,--donate to our Red Cross help support the town, buy Liberty Bonds and Thrift Stamps. It anyone is needy they always help. The peddler takes your money and puts it in his sock and it is good bye. The meeting adjourned to meet in two weeks. ' |
