Show THE CALL OF THE SEA By Julia A. Smithson Author of "Boy of Mine" and other war poems. The Sea, the lonly murmuring Sea Is calling sadly ever to me. For one of my boys (where the. warm wave leaps From its hiding place in the trackless track-less deeps) Has answered his country's call. And I, where the Sands of the Des ert sleep Have the long, cold night to watch and to weep And to pray that he may not fall But return to" me e're my eyes grow dim With watching and waiting for sight of him. The Sea the stormy-surging Sea Is calling loudly ever to me For another lad (by the Northland Cold Where the breakers dash o're the frozen wold) Has answered his Country's Call And I wtiere the sands of the Desert sleep Have the long, cold night to watch and weep And to pray that he' may not fall But return to me when the morn 1? young And vibrant with music of birds new sung. |
