The Cedar-Talisman mine it employing employ-ing a force of about 30 miners under the new aggressive management. The Leonora is also nearing the objective ob-jective sought for many months and in beginning to get very encouraging indications. The Cedar-Talisman is to sink a new chatt 600 feet south of the present Incline shall, between the two main fibsuies. About 2S'c screened zinc shipping ore is beiug obtained. Mr. Lewis Merritt from Duluth recently re-cently looked over the Ked Warrior propel ty and went back enthusiastic over the possibilities of that old producer, pro-ducer, and with the firm intention ol raiting funds to start operations there at once. 'Ihe Paloma is working three shifts aud just coming into the ore after several months of repair work to the shalt. Everything is now in admirable shape there to make a good showing and put this pruptrty among the producers pro-ducers of the district. The Antelope Star mine was visited by a party from bait Lake and Logan, composed of Willard Funk, Frank Jardine, H. E. Havener, Leo Neiiaoi. and H. L. Kemp. At the old Andes tunnel aboui 3u tons of 16?b copper ore has been extracted ex-tracted during that time. This ore is worth close to $90.00 per ton at the present price of copper. A party composed of E. D. E. Thompson, Secretary of the Beaver Lake Metals Company, Director Hei-bert Hei-bert Nichols of the same corporation and Professor Draper of tne local High School, went by auto to the property of the Beaver Lake Metals, last Sunday to look over conditions there; Professor Draper also took son.e photographic views of the properties for use iu the University of Utah Sui-vey Sui-vey booklet. The Beaver Lake folks have established a record for speedy operation, having, within sixty days from date of incorporation, installed all their equipment, sunk a new shaft aud extended the tunnel of ihe Bab Jack mine sixty feet. V iih eight men, mine Superintendent Charles Smith has been pushing things aud the company intends to continue development develop-ment work as rapidly as possible. The company has already Btarted to take ore from the Baby Jack. The Moscow has been shipping 6even cart per month for the past two or three months. Four cars of better than 10 copper ore have been shipped that netted f 10,000.00, or $2,500.00 to the icar. Two feet of sulphide ore have been struck on the 200 level which runs 30 lead, 12 ounces Bilver, 2 copper and 53 zinc. This ore figures $40.00 to the ton, with penalty for zinc and sulphur deducted, but is being mixed with other ores so aB to reduce the zinc and copper content to the minimum allowed free, thus increasing the value by about $7.00 per ton. The Cullen shaff is beiug sunk ty contract with all possible speed. It is now down l,Gn0 leet. This depth corresponds to the 1.300 foot level of the mine. It will be cou-tinued cou-tinued to the 1,400 level where drifting will be started for the veins. As all V6ins are dipping toward the shaft, this new level should be producing ore within a few months. The bottom of the shaft has been showing vein matter for some time, and it is probable that ore may be found in the shaft itself any day now. The wage scale was increased in-creased on the first of May and there is no longer any trouble in securing plenty ol capable miners. |
