Show FRIENDS MISS OLIVER LEWIS ON MEMORIAL DAY Milford friends of Oliver C. Lewis remembered him on Memorial Me-morial Day as they visited the Milford Mil-ford cemetery and missed seeing him at the ifamily plot. Mr. Lewis died early in the spring in California Cali-fornia from complications following follow-ing injuries suffered in an accident. Following are excerpts from the funeral notice, which appeared in a California newspaper. Oliver Cromwell Lewis was born at Trenton, 111., April 19, 1862. When four years of age he moved with his family to the state of Kansas. In 1887, he was married mar-ried to Rosavell Willson at Utica, Kansas. Later, the young couple moved to Milford, where Mrs. Lewis died February 15, 1918. Of a family of eight children, three daughters remain to mourn the loss of a loving father, Mrs. Siewert of Winnetka, Calif., Mrs. Roy Whitmore of Kildare, Okla., and Mrs. R. V. Ketring of Alham-bra, Alham-bra, Calif. In 1921 Mr. Lew-is married Mrs. Edith Burk at Milford, and in 1931 they moved to California. The second Mrs. Lewis passed away at National City, Calif., on February 15, 1934. Since that time Mr. Lewis had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. R. G. Siewert. Mr. Lewis died at the Santa Fe hospital in Los Angeles on February Febru-ary 2, as a result of an accident which occurred January 15. He was a devoted and sincere Christian Chris-tian and a member of the Methodist Metho-dist church for many years. During his stay at the hospital he made many friends by his cheerful patience pa-tience in the midst or Intense suffering suf-fering and his wonderful Christian Chris-tian testimony given in all his conscious con-scious moments. Funeral services were held for him at Christ Community Church on February 6. Interment was in Oakwood Memorial park. |
