Show STABLE RESERVATIONS MADE EARLY FOR LION SPONSORED RACE MEET With more than 60 days re- 4 maining before the "They're Off!" shout heralds the opening of Milford's first post-war race meet, arrangements for a successful suc-cessful program are shaping up nicely, according to General Chairman D. E. Kirk. j Purses for the Lion-sponsored event may well pass the record $2050 mark announced in the preliminary pre-liminary circular mailed to horse owners. Lion President Vance Fisher and Tailtwister Lawrence Eldridge made a canvass of Main street the past week, and received pledges of $315 for the "Merchants' Handicap," scheduled as the feature fea-ture race for the first day. The '"Railroaders' Handicap," feature event of the second day's program, is expected to offer a purse of more than $200, and the "Miners' Handicap," Handi-cap," on the last day of the meet, June 29, should be the richest of the three features. Reservations for more than 17 stables have been received by Secretary Sec-retary E. L. Smith, with Doc Stewart of Payson, and the Wint-erose Wint-erose and Maokelprang stables of Cedar City among those seeking reservations. |
