Show Murdock Speaker At Armistice Day I Special Program : United States Congressman Abe ; Murdock of Beaver, newdy re-eleet-I ed for a third term by an over-j over-j whelming majority, was the speaker speak-er of the day at an Armistice day i program Wednesday forenoon in I the Milford high school, the affair being one of the most successful in the history of the community. Mr. J Murdock related incidents leading up to this country's entering the World war and later told of safeguards safe-guards that have been erected against a similar occurrence in the future, by which it is proposed that the armed forces of the United Unit-ed States will not be called upon except to defend our country from invading forces. Miss Wilma English and Robert (Pepper) Martin were adjudged winners of the annual high school oratorical contest, sponsored by I y'BeaverbrysinvadrsJo qsvD-rc jn the American Legion Auxiliary. The judges were J. C. Smith, president presi-dent of the county board of education; educa-tion; Attorney Harold Cline and Mrs. J. R. Murdock jr. Miss Verle Zabriskie and Vernon Beard were the other two contestants, these four having won their way to the i finals out of ten who participated j in the class elimination, j Following the program lunch j was served to a large number of i local people, this feature being nn- der the joint sponsorship of sev-I sev-I eral local organzations. o |
