Show Price Man Elected j As Head of Group Dr. F. R. King, Price, Saturday j was elected president of Associated Civic Clubs of Southern Utah at I i the association's annual meeting : , in Nephi. Dr. King succeeds ! Chauncey Sandberg, Hurricane, ' president for the past two years, j i Elected first vice president was : I J. Walter Paxman, Nephi, with j Dr. James A. Nuttall, president of j ! Snow college, Ephraim, as second vice president. Members of the executive committee com-mittee include: Mr. Sandberg, Mark Johnson, Holden. Byron A. Howard, Huntington; James A. Sargent, Panguitch, and George 0. Patterson, Moab. "Utah is well ahead of the nation na-tion in preparation for postwar j flying," Joe Bergin, director of the state department of aeronautics, told the association. Mr. Bergin I outlined the master plan of the j civil aeronautic's authority and i said that bills have been prepared for the coming legislature which will permit Utah to receive federal funds for development of airports throughout Utah. Pointing out that there are only-three only-three places in 10 southeastern Utah counties where milk will pass state cleanliness tests, Lyman Willardson of Ephraim, inspector of state department of agriculture, called on the association to start moves for the establishment of i milk standards for aid of school lunch programs and general public j welfare. I Paul Ashworth of Richfield, i manager of the Telluride Power j company, discussing the "G. I. Bill of Rights," pointed out the vast benefits which will come to the service men on discharge from the army, and urged southern Utah leaders to put themselves in a position to assist service men to become established after the war. He urged adoption of an advertising advertis-ing program which will attract service men from other states to this section. Mr. Paxman, discussing dis-cussing the conference of the National Na-tional Reclamation association at Denver, pointed out that there are 4,000,000 extra acres of farmland farm-land needed to help supply postwar post-war food needs of America and other countries and urged immediate imme-diate steps to see that Utah is prepared to fill this need. Mr. Sandberg gave a short report re-port on a trip taken recently to California and Mexico to study the Colorado River distribution system and presented many facts on the allocation of the water to the various states and Mexico. T. W. Jensen, Mt. Pleasant, field secretary of the association, also elaborated on the trip to Mexico. v |
