Mrs. Marion Walker has received receiv-ed word that her father, County Assessor James H. Rollins, is improving im-proving nicely after his operation at the L. T. S. hospital in Salt Lake City. Mi-s. S. stake union meeting at Beaver Sunday Mrs. Earl Thompson returned Saturday to her home in Pocatello following a visit of a couple of days at the home of her sister, Mrs. W. P. Frazier. The William Dumas family returned re-turned home Sunday from a visit of two weeks in Illinois. Mr. Dumas is a memiber of the local Union Pacific dispatching staff. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Martin of Grand Junction spent the weekend week-end in Milford visiting at the home of Mr. Martin's brother, W. E. Martin, and sister, Mrs. F. E. Gasterline. Miss Betty Lou Kapple of Pay-son Pay-son and a teacher in our elementary element-ary school here last year, was a visitor in Milford last week-end enroute to her home from a visit in California. Little Miss Garnetta Whitbeck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Whitbeck, has returned home from a week's visit in Beeaver at the home of a friend, Helen Thompson, Thomp-son, who accompanied her to Milford Mil-ford for a visit at the Whitbeck home. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Forgie sympathize with them in their disappointment of last week when a still-born baby girl was 'born to Mrs. Forgie at the Milford Mil-ford hospital. The mother is reported re-ported to be doing nicely, however. how-ever. The sale of $427 in war savings bonds and stamps in connection with Milford's observance of Pioneer Pio-neer day is reported by a representative repre-sentative of the American Legion Auxiliary, who thus inaugurated the local Molly Pitcher campaign for the sale of bonds and stamps. Mrs. Helen Ruth Leech entertained enter-tained members of her "500" club Wednesday evening. Those present were Mrs. Verna Tomsik, Mrs. Mlargaret Arnold, Mrs. Margaret Mar-garet Lyman, Mrs. Mary Muir, Mrs. Alberta Banks, Mrs. Diana McCulley, Mrs. Olive Young, Mrs. Audrey Jones, Mrs. Verda Smith, Mrs. Evelyn Brannon and Mrs. Luella Fisher. The first prize was received by Mrs. Young, the traveling prize by Mrs. Banks and the consolation prize by Mrs. Arnold. Members of the Friday Night Bridge club motored to Miners-ville Miners-ville last week and enjoyed the hospitality of one of their members, mem-bers, Mrs. J. S. Rickerson. A delicious de-licious vegetable dinner was served serv-ed to those present, after which bridge was enjoyed. The prizes were received by Mrs. Kenneth Hollis, Mrs. James Smithson, Mrs. William Morris and Mrs. Glen Barnes. Others present were Mrs. Freda Outzen, Mrs. Gene Pitch-forth, Pitch-forth, Mrs. Dick Jones and Ml-s. D. N. Hickman. 1 I Mrs. Donna Goudie Fisher, bride of some three weeks, left Saturday Satur-day for Spokane, Waahingon, where she was to join her husband, hus-band, Sergeant Hal J. Fisher, who is located at Geiger field, near there, with a ground construction unit of the army air forces: Honoring . Mrs. Fisher , prior to her departure, a shower party was given Friday night of last week at the home of M(rs. G. C. Cuddy. A large nuimlber of friends were present and the honor guest received re-ceived many beautiful and useful gifts. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Martin are leaving on No. 24 this Saturday morning for Kansas City, Missouri, Mis-souri, where Mr. Martin will assume as-sume his new position as assistant chief clerk to the general superintendent super-intendent of Railway Express. He has 'been local agent for the company com-pany for more than ten years and capable and popular president of the Milford town board of trustees trus-tees for three and a half years. Farewell parties, too numerous to mention separately, have been given the Martins during the past ten days, testifying volulbly to the popularity of these good people. Among the parties was a "stag" affair given Thursday of last week by fellow Masons. The News and other local friends of the family last week received announcements of the marriage of Kathryn Jane Hanks and Alan George Niethamer. The marriage took place July 22 at Shatto Chapel, First Congregational Congrega-tional church, Los Anigeles, California. Cali-fornia. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Heber Thomas Hanks of Los Angeles and the late Heber Hanks. The Hanks family is widely wide-ly known in Milford, having lived here several years ago and visited here frequently since locating in Los Angeles, where they have choice apartment house holdings. Mr. Hanks was a former owner and operator of the Hotel Milford. Mil-ford. Mrs. Niethamer is a beautiful beauti-ful and accomplished musician and many friends in Milford join in wishing her well. v |
