Show Mining Course To End Friday Night j Though not as well attended as ' the two weeks class of a year 1 ago, possibly because of a lack of j sufficient adance notice, the miners' and prospectors' class be- ing given this week in the high i school by Walter F. Hobbs, is 1 meeting with marked success and ; those in attendance are in a posi-j posi-j tion to be much benefited. I The class was to begin Monday j but work did not get underway until Tuesday evening, since which ! time interest has been keen on the I part of the students while Mr. j Hobbs has been garnering valu-; valu-; able information on the vast mineral min-eral resources of this part of the state. Unfortunately, the class is scheduled to come to a close with Friday evening's session, to be followed by field trips Saturday and perhaps Sunday and Monday. Practical information on the I various minerals and mineral foi-' foi-' mations, ' together with indentifi-cation indentifi-cation and other data, have been given by Mr. Hobbs, who has ' made use of the high school lab-' lab-' oratory for the making of blowpipe blow-pipe and acid tests. Also, he has given his hearers valuable infor- mation on mining laws and cus- toms. ; , Mr. Hobbs has a wide reputa-I reputa-I tion as a mine consultant and promoter pro-moter and has made comprehen-I comprehen-I sive reports of many important western properties. He was a ' prime mover in the organization, ! a few years ago, of The Great American Prospectors association, which has done a great deal in getting favorable consideration in many different ways for the development dev-elopment of mining and the exploitation ex-ploitation of the mineral resources of Utah and the west. |
