Show Milford CCC Camp Reports Big Program of Work Done Total of 10,008 Man Days Are Worked; Only Two Lost Due To Bad Weather With a total of 10,008 man-days expended on projects and other work and only two days lost on account of inclement weather, the Milford District of Grazing CCC camp, No. DG-35, has established a splendid record since its establishment estab-lishment late in Ocotober of last year. On November 4, the construction con-struction of the camp was reported report-ed complete and the enrollees were released to Project Superintendent Superintend-ent L. C. Koch for duty with a small percentage being retaine'd by the camp commander for the finishing of the camp. Included among the work done by the men of the Milford camp, according to a report released by Robert Elliott Cheatham, clerk for the division of grazing, are three bridges- complete, one partially complete, one spike camp established, one powder magazine constructed, half a mile of tlephone line completed and 1722 lineal feet of pipe line for water systems completed. Work on reservoirs includes the following: Earth fill, 5110 cubic yards; earth excavation, 530 cubic yards; rock excavation, 600 cubic yards; three reservoirs under construction con-struction one of which, with a dam 27 feet high, 166 feet bottom width and 5000 cubic yards of earth, is almost complete. This is the reservoir south of Minersville, located beside the Minersville-Enoch Minersville-Enoch short-cut road, which is also under construction with only the heavy snow cover on the higher high-er elevations holding up completion. comple-tion. Work on erosion control shows 1300 square yards of bank sloping, slop-ing, 3215 lineal feet of diversion ditches and one permanent check dam constructed and 160 acres of ground treated. The survey crew reports six miles of grade line done, 40 miles lineal and 1640 acres of topographic topo-graphic survey. One of the best showings of the camp has been in the matter of roads. Over 15 miles of minor (Continued on last page') CCC Camp Projects (Continued from ffst page.) roads have been completed together to-gether with .2 of a mile of highway. high-way. Partially completed are 58.6 miles of minor roads. The fencing project has also been progressing nicely with 3500 posts cut and peeled and some of them moved to location. Included among the projects soon to be started is a division fence separating sep-arating grazing lands east of Beaver' Bea-ver' which now are under the supervision sup-ervision of the department of grazing since the enactment of the Taylor grazing act. For the month of February there was an increase of 8 in the number of men released to the division, based on previous reports. re-ports. This is accounted for by the fact that the enrollees have become acclimated, with a fewer number on the sick list. No accidents have been reported and this is an exceptionally good record which officials and men are determined to keep up. o |
