Show Cedar City Elks Conduct Flag Day Exercises Here The Flag day service conducted in the Milford L. D. S. chapel Tuesday evening under the auspices aus-pices of the Cedar City Elks lodge was both interesting and inspiring and undoubtedly left with everyone in attendance a better understanding understand-ing of what the day means ana a deeper love and respect for the flag. The program was preceded by a parade from the Hotel Milford to the chapel by the high school band, visitors from Cedar City and representatives rep-resentatives of the Milford service organizations and Boy Scouts. Af the chapel was gathered a fair-sized fair-sized audience of local people who thoroughly enjoyed every part of the program. The service was in charge of Attorney R. J. Shay, exalted ruler of the Cedar City lodge, who also gave the principal talk of the evening. eve-ning. In addition to the flag ceremony, in which local Scouts assisted lodge members, there were included numbers by the high school orchestra, a vocal solo, "Flag Without a Stain," by Dan Ferguson, and a quartet number by James Hickman, Phillip Carlisle, Car-lisle, James Grimshaw and Stanley Hughes. Following the program a banquet ban-quet was served in the Union Pacific Pa-cific dining room in which visiting Elks and their partners, together with local Elks and their wives participated. There are some ten or twelve members of the order who live in Milford but only a few are affiliated with the Cedar City-lodge. City-lodge. I wish to express my appreciation apprecia-tion to the service organizations the boy scouts, the high school band and orchestra, and others for their cooperation in assisting with the program and arrangements for the Flag day exercises. I also want to thank the church officials for the use of the L. D. S. chapei and The News for its help. Cedar City lodge No. 1556, B. P. O.
