Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Carlton of Riverside, California, had arrived in Milford to make their home with their son, Karl S.S Caiftton, and family. The members of the Victory Rebekah lodge had given a bundle shower for Bertha Sherwood. Those present were Mrs. Frances Jefferson, Mrs. Bertha Cottrell, Mrs. Vic Johnson, Mrs. Martha Armstrong, Mrs. Bessie Stuart, Mrs. Zelma Carlson, Mrs. Elizabeth Eliza-beth Swanson, Mrs. Hallie Sherwood, Sher-wood, Miss Hortense Hardy, Mrs. Roy White and Mrs. D. A. Baxter. Mrs. Oscar Larson and Mrs. Lulu Germo had entertained at the Carlton home for Miss Ethel Nowers, a hri-de to be. Those pre-' sent were Mesdames R. E. Parsons, Par-sons, Jack McCann, Leonard Chilton, Chil-ton, Steve Harris, Clare Nichols, Lew Williams, A. Hillary, C. C. Sloan, Raines, Fred Jefferson, E. C. A banquet was served at the close of the meeting- to Mesdames Charles Sportsman, J. Killam, William Wil-liam Dawson, Otto Steenbock, J. C. Jeffers, E. A. Olson, George Ran-sen, Ran-sen, E. Blandpied and Charles Himstreet and Mrs. Reveal. The Polly Anna swarm had given an invitation party. ' A large group of friends of Mrs. George Litchfield had surprised her in honor of her 39th birthday. Those present were Mesdames Phil Orwin, George Shaffer, Oscar Larson, Lar-son, William Faucett, Charles Swanson, Steve Stoker, George Atkin, Lorin Hardy, Christy Lee, F. L. Rose, Russell Hunter, S. Harris, Har-ris, 0. A. Melcher, J. Masters, Jack McKeon, Martin Reisner, Karl Carlton, A. Jennings, Ed Peterson, Abe Fotheringham and Miss Mercy Orwin. i Water in the river south of town j was nearly across the state road. 1 There had been born at the maternity ma-ternity hospital in Milford a baby boy to Mr. and Mrs. Ghaham S. Quate of Baker, Nevada. i Mrs. James Glenn had returned from Salt Lake where she had left Mr. Glenn, who had had his knee operated on. The Beaver county library board had instructed C. A. Arrington, president of the board, to close a deal for the purchase of the lot now occupied by the Milford library li-brary and get the old building (still in use, by the way) in shape ' so that a Milford library could be installed therein, temporarily. A book committee was appointed with Miss Hettie White of Beaver as chairman, other members including includ-ing A. E. Terry, Mrs. A. C. Nebe-ker Nebe-ker and Leroy Luken of Milford; J. F. McGregor and J. F. Tolton of Beaver; William Joseph and June Griffiths of Minersville; and Ross Cutler of Adamsville. The committee was to recommend a list of books to be purchased for use throughout the county. |
