While in the city they called, at Fort Douglas hospital where Private Earl Thompson is recovering from an operation for hernia performed immediately after being inducted into the army. Members of the Monday Night Bridge club were entertained May 29 at the home of Mrs. Gene Kirk. Those present were Mrs. J. M. Williams, Mrs. David S. Williams, Mrs. M. H. Pool, Mrs. Rudolph I Nielsen, Mrs. William Cochrane ! Mrs. J. M. Hughes and Mrs. M. P. Lewis. The prizes at bridge were I received by Mrs. Cochrane, Mrs. jj. M. Williams, Mrs. Kirk and Mrs. j Lewis. The Dorcas society social was ' held at the home of Mrs. Gladys j Shingleton and a very enjoyable i evening was enjoyed by everyone, j Mrs. Vena Wilson gave a book review re-view of "The Song of Bernadette" Those present were Mrs. Bertha Moore, Mrs. William Cochrane, Mrs. Freda Outzen, Mrs. LaMar Outzen, Mrs. W. A delicious lunch was served by Mrs. Shingleton. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Holm left Monday fur a visit in Salt Lake' City. E. J. Beesley, new Beaver county chairman, and V. Wad-doups Wad-doups went to Suit Lake City Friday Fri-day of last week as delegates to the Democratic state convention. A birthday party honoring Mar-gene Mar-gene Lofthouse on her 11th birthday birth-day was enjoyed by a large number num-ber of little friends. The party was held at the John H. Lofthouse home with Dahl Thompson and Waima Neely, sisters of Mrs. Lofthouse, assisting in entertaining. entertain-ing. Albert R. Smith, M. H. S. senior class president, who was kept from attending graduation exercises exer-cises by amputation of his left hand, following an accident, is coming along nicely and soon will be able to resume almost all regular regu-lar activities. Both he and the family are deeply appreciative of the thoughtfulness and consideration considera-tion shown Albert by his many friends. Mrs. Robert Colburn entertained members of Bridgadier club at her home Monday evening with the high points prize being won by Mrs. Arthur Connell and the high honors prize by Mrs. Vern Shingleton, Shingle-ton, while Mrs. Ross Baxter received re-ceived the consolation and traveling travel-ing prizes. Others present were Mrs. William Morris, Mrs. 0. A. Steenbock, Mrs. 0. R. Smith and Mrs. F. A. Bingham. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Carter, who are now making their home in Caliente, have been spending the week in Milford, visiting , with their son Deloy and family, and other relatives and friends. They handed The News the letter from their son Floyd, appearing elsewhere else-where in this issue of The News, and stated that their older son Allen, more familiarly known as "Dolly", is still in India, where he is attached to a supply unit doing carpenter work, while doing barber bar-ber work after duty hours. Friday evening of last week a party was given at the home of Mrs. Robert Colburn by members of the G. I. A. in honor of Mrs- G. C. Cuddy, who has been a member of that organization for 25 years. A delicious supper was served, after which cards were played. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Cuddy, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Connell, Mr. and Mrs. Fay Brad-field, Brad-field, Mi', and Mrs. M. Vincent, Mtr. and Mrs. Harry Garfield, Mr. and Mrs. J. Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Steenbock, Mr. and Mrs. Colburn. Mrs. K. B. Coon, Mrs.'J. P. Holm: Mrs. 0. R. Smith,7 Mrs. Glen Barnes, Mrs. W. G. A number of little guests were entertained at the home of Mrs. Gene Pitchforth on May 24, the occasion being the seventh birthday of her daughter Florence. The afternoon was spent in playing games, after which delicious refreshments re-freshments were served. jMrs. PitcViforth was assisted by another daughter, Patricia, and Mrs. H. V. Carlson. The invited guests were Ruth and Harriet Cline, Nancy Mellor, Betty Ferguson, Marlene Lund, Barbara McClelland, Barbara Bar-bara Tanner, Shirley Hutchins, Carol Jean Garfield, Arlene Whit-heck, Whit-heck, Sue Ellen Mannion, Penny Banks, Myrtle Handley, Mary Lou Gribble, Ralph Smith, Skippy Carlson, Carl-son, Neal Smith, Ray Rogers, Le-land Le-land Beard, Alma Hollis, Dean Fotheringham, Robert Glen, Earl Stonehocker, Garry Whisler, Clark Grimshaw, and the guest of honor Miss Florence received many beautiful gifts.
